I'm an illustrator and artist currently residing in Bali, Indonesia.
After 5 years of working in advertising as an art buyer, I decided to quit my job and travel the world by bicycle. I started my journey in April of 2016 and biked the length of Vietnam. I'm now taking a few months off from biking and painting every day.
My colorful paintings are a mix of watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil.
I'm inspired by my travels, Mexican folk art, 70's surfing culture, mid century furniture, camping, and all things dogs.

Hello, my name is Marcy Day.
I’m an illustrator and painter originally from sunny southern California. I studied at the University of California Santa Cruz where I earned a BFA in painting. After college, I moved to Los Angeles and worked as an art buyer/photo producer at an advertising agency. After six years, I quit my job to see the world by bicycle with my boyfriend.
After two years of biking (all the way from Vietnam to Turkey!), we decided to take a break and settle in Southeast Asia for a while.
My work is inspired by my travels and the things I see along the way or miss from home - mostly the beach and tacos! I illustrate in a variety of mediums from gouache to watercolors, and I also paint digitally on my iPad.
During our bike tour we took a short break in Bali to work on an iMessage sticker app featuring my paintings, which we released in November of 2016. It was subsequently featured by Apple and has been downloaded nearly half a million times. You can read more about it here.
All of my artwork is available for purchase and licensing. I’m also available for commission work and ongoing creative partnerships.
